Harnessing AI for Effective Leadership in the Workplace (Leadership: Research and Practice)

Integrating perspectives from organisational behavior, psychology, and management science, this book advances a rigorous and practice-relevant understanding of leadership in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). The book develops the construct of “AI readiness” as a multilevel capability and examines its implications across decision making, team functioning, workforce management, communication, ethics, and well-being. Drawing on diverse methodologies, including conceptual frameworks, empirical studies, bibliometric analysis, and intervention-based research, the book diagnoses gaps in leadership preparedness and proposes structured pathways for capability development. Offering integrative models, evidence-based insights, and actionable frameworks, it helps readers to move beyond superficial adoption toward strategically grounded and ethically responsible AI integration, thereby equipping leaders to balance efficiency with human sustainability, mitigate risks such as bias and psychological strain, and build organisations that are both technologically competent and socially legitimate in an AI-mediated future. The book will appeal to leaders and aspiring leaders in diverse sectors who are interested in how AI can be used to transform leadership in the workplace. It will also interest students and scholars of business, management, and organisational psychology.
