Jewish Organizations' Response to Communism and to Senator McCarthy

McCarthy's campaign endangered civil liberties that protected minorities, but criticism could be seen as support for communism. To show Jews are patriotic Americans Jewish organizations presented a united front, while also cooperating with non-sectarian American bodies. By doing so they professed an alternative anti-communism to hardline McCarthy.
