This volume details how K-6 teachers and families can collaborate in building family-school relationships that value each other's view of literacy. Using her observations in a reading program and classrooms over a period of 12 years, along with the experiences of graduate students and preservice teachers, Endrizzi (literacy, Westminster College) outlines three phases of implementation for this collaboration that focus on building a foundation, different methods of communication such as the use of newsletters and literacy backpacks, and gatherings. She also discusses obstacles to the process. There is no index. Annotation 2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
