Here, listed by year from 1577 to 1590 in Perth, Scotland, are issues that would change church administration and inform the faithful, administer everything from the roles of pastors and deacons, to regulation of the boxmen--the men who took the offerings of the laity and distributed them to church maintenance and charity. The officers of the Kirk were elected by individual parishes and guilds, and they remained individuals, even during the auspicious visit of John Knox; the resulting turmoil was, indeed, highly individualistic. Punctuating the debates are notices of how churches were to be run, and which woman was to be warned about her fornicating with a local burgher. The introduction, which fully explains the contexts, is very well done. The Boydell Press is an imprint of Boydell \u0026amp; Brewer.
